From pigs to puppies, to cats, to...monkeys? There’s nothing like seeing your favorite actor on screen, but pair them up with a furry (NOT THAT KIND OF FURRY) costar and now you’re talking. Toto from The Wizard of Oz. Hooch from Turner and Hooch. Max from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Brandy from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Black Beauty from, well, Black Beauty. We’re going to explore some of the biggest animal costars to hit the screens.
There’s an old saying in Hollywood by the Great W.C. Fields. “Never work with children or animals.” It’s because they steal the show every single time...and you know what...he’s right. There’s an incredible amount of movies with animal stars, like the Air Bud Cinematic Universe, even the Beethoven Cinematic Universe...I mean, how many times can Beethoven get into things...anyway, today, we’re going to take a look at the films where those delightful animal costars literally steal the show.
And side note, we’re going to be talking about real animals on set, not CGI animals like that weird Call of the Wild CGI dog thing. However, we would pay money to see this whole movie without CGI.
It’s our 10 Animal Costars That Made The Movie.
Flipper, The Dog from Frasier, The Black Stallion, Rocket Raccoon, Scooby-Doo, Lassie, the Groundhog from Groundhog's Day...what was your favorite animal costar that made the movie?
