So after alllll that hype, was Zack Snyder’s Justice League worth it? Well, lemme go ask the internet really fast. It turns out this is literally the first time the internet has ever agreed about anything. The Snyder Cut is good! What a comeback, right? The first film didn’t have a lot in terms of reveals, except that terrifying upper lip of Superman’s. The Snyder Cut was like all reveals though. The film zigged and zagged between interesting character backstories to epic mythological battles to alternate futures that ironically depict future movies that we’ll never get to see. The Snyder Cut knew it was going to be the last film in its specific movie universe and played that for all it was worth.
We got to see the story of Darkseid and Steppenwolf, proving that the plot of Justice League had more to it than just some evil CGI guy who was obsessed with these floating metal boxes. I mean...it was still exactly that but the context really helped. We also got to actually meet characters like Cyborg and the Flash who were more or less just catchphrases and stilted humor in the original film. Then there were the set-ups and character reveals that showed the promise this franchise could’ve had.
All of this was the best kind of fan service. It was a love letter to every person who ever tweeted #releasethesnydercut. So let’s dive into all the ways it blew our minds exactly how we hoped it would.
