Look, danger seems to be everywhere but when you specifically go looking for it you’re a special breed. Stunt performers and coordinators are some of the most overlooked elements of any film and we’re here to give them the credit they truly deserve. From sliding under trucks to chariot races to oh so many helicopter chases. In an age of computer graphics and blue screens we assume people are no longer risking it all for our entertainment but you can’t just CGI your way to stunt heaven. With this list our goal is to make you see how close some of these performers came to making it to said heaven. Practical makes perfect.
We expect to watch our Superheroes like Batman to do amazing things as well as our super sleuths but sometimes we take for granted just how much might be present in a Quentin Tarantino movie or even classic films from the silent era. Whether in James Bond, Mission Impossible and Terminator films the job is not easy. We feel there should be an Academy Award category called “Best example of insanity in a motion picture or “Best Achievement in original explosions” Perhaps we just need to come up with a way to let these stunt people know that their jumping off of ledges is appreciated. Just our two cents. So today and everyday we salute you oh noble stunt folks by highlighting some of the most gnarly stunts ever to make the silver screen.
