In the last few years, the MCU very much popularized the idea of encouraging filmgoers to stick around once the credits start rolling! Not just to appreciate all the talent that went into making the film (which SHOULD be noted!), but with the promise that there will be some sort of small tease at the very end.
It became such a norm, that even Captain America appeared at the end of Homecoming to tell us “Patience,” as if knowing we’d be expecting something.
While the films of the MCU may be among the most notable current examples (Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, or Thanos at the end of The Avengers)... Plenty of movies before, and since, have capitalized on the ART of the post-credits scene.
A lot of the time, they tease what’s to come, like in Fast Five, or Rise of the Planet of the Apes, both of which spawned several huge sequels…. But not nearly as many as 22 Jump Street.
From hilariously raunchy sequences like in The Hangover, to overtly meta scenes like in Ferris Bueller; Post-credits scenes really have the ability to tie a movie together nicely. After all, they ARE the final image you get when watching a movie. Might as well make it count, right?
So join us as we discuss 10 movies with post-credits scenes that made the movie EVEN BETTER!
