Every movie ends up wasting a little bit of money on footage that doesn’t make the final cut. But some movies throw away millions of dollars capturing elaborate scenes that just...never make it into the movie. Some of these deleted scenes are entire endings that the studio or test audience just hated-- like the original bleak ending to “Little Shop of Horrors” and the epic sequel-setting third act of Brad Pitt’s “World War Z.” But were the wasted wads of cash worth it?

In some cases, they totally were, like when removing inappropriate scenes from films like “Gangster Squad” and “Dr Strangelove.” But in other cases, hours of amazing movie footage were paid for and then lost forever-- like the almost 3 hours of footage deleted from “Cleopatra.” Even entire characters, like Anna Paquin’s Rogue in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, have found themselves on the victims of the cutting room floor. So which scenes should have stayed, and which were deserved the cut? Check out our video for 10 of the most expensive deleted scenes ever filmed.
