We’re entering a golden age of faithful video game adaptations, whether it be the Sonic movies, Detective Pikachu, or HBO’s The Last of Us. With the Mario Movie joining those, it’s time to start thinking about which other series should get a similar treatment. God of War is a no-brainer, as Sony has already talked about developing a series based on their other murder-hobo dad epic, but this time with less Pedro Pascal. However, that’ll likely be different considering there’s six games set before Kratos became a dad. Dave Bautista would make an excellent Kratos, with Jason Mamoa serving as an equally excellent Ares. Sony also talked about making a show based on Sucker Punch’s Infamous series, which could be a great way to drum up interest in this beloved franchise. This list was secretly written by a Sony fanboy, as we also talk about how Bloodborne and Horizon: Zero Dawn would make excellent TV series that would stand out from anything streaming nowadays. Cosmic horror and mecha dinosaur-infested apocalypse are two settings that aren’t often seen on tv. But there are definitely some lesser-known titles that would make for great television, like No More Heroes and Konami’s forgotten classic, Contra. Metroid would be an immense undertaking in any medium outside of video games. It’s such an immense undertaking, that there’s barely ten mainline games (if you don’t count the remakes anyway). But Brie Larson has expressed interest in playing Samus multiple times, and she deserves a shot.
