15 Over-The-Top PR Stunts For Movies And TV Shows

When it comes to promoting their movie or TV show, sometimes producers and studios aren’t content with just putting up a couple of posters and a trailer online, and instead go with a ‘go big, or go home’ strategy. This means they look for inventive (and sometimes even bizarre) ways to market their movie and get audiences interested in going to see it. Some of these stunts can be exceptionally over the top, but more often than not, they do actually work (although, admittedly, that is not always the case).

In this video we are going to take a look at 15 of the biggest, craziest, weirdest and most over the top stunts performed by studios when promoting their movie or TV show, why they did it, and whether or not it actually worked. From one of the biggest animated shows of all time, Rick and Morty, teaming up with Wendy’s to create their own fast food chain, The Simpsons taking over a franchise so they could bring their own world to life, Sasha Baron Cohen creating a 40ft inflatable statue of himself to promote the Borat sequel on Amazon, Jurassic Park doing the same thing for Jeff Goldblum in London, a number of horror movies pranking innocent passersby, to one movie convincing IMDB to pretend that their actors had died while filming the movie to generate interest.
