Description

Sometimes, nothing can take you out of a movie faster than poor CGI. When it’s cheap or lackluster, it’s extremely noticeable and has the potential to ruin the movie-watching experience. Plus, absolutely everyone is going to make fun of it on the internet. That part is inevitable. But what happens when CGI is really good? Well, I think you could argue that the best CGI in a film is the type you don’t see and guess what? It happens all the time!

We all know Jurassic Park is a cinematic classic with a stunning amount of practical effects mixed in with the computer-generated imagery, but did you know that one actor had to be digitally replaced doing a dangerous stunt and I bet you never noticed before? Were you aware that Tony’s final scene in Iron Man 3 is the result of some crafty CGI thanks to an on-set injury? Do you remember how beautiful those landscapes were in the beloved Brokeback Mountain? Well would you be heartbroken to learn that a lot of that was visually altered? And yes, don’t worry, the king of subtle and hidden CGI in movies, David Fincher, finds himself on this list a few times.

So check out today’s video all about scenes you didn’t know used CGI. What were you most surprised by? Any that we missed?
