In a world endlessly gripped with movie sequels and full time franchises it’s easy to think that at some point enough money will be invested into quick cash grabs to make one worth watching. However not all film sequels are loaded with lame callbacks and a reskinned version of the characters from the last movie. From epics like Star Wars: The Empire Strikes back, Spider-Man 2 to heavy hitters like The Godfather Part 2 to smaller scale character sequels like Logan or Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan we explore what makes them better than the first. We’ve taken the time to lay out some of the sequels that proved to be a cut above the original. (Get the film pun in there? Yeah we like it too.)
