In the early days of Computer-generated Imagery, you didn’t complain if an effect was horrible. The odds are it was just a confusing mess to you and everyone else in the theater. Nowadays, you notice when CGI is used weirdly, and the criticism comes fast and heavy. I’m in for the new and not for the old. Criticizing poor animation in live-action movies is something I live for right now.
Whether you loved the sesame seed in Justice League or you felt it was the most pretentious thing in cinema since Tree of Life, there are plenty of entries on this list for everyone. I’m not kidding; plenty of excellent movies done by great directors made this list. They just picked the wrong effect for the wrong moment. John Wick, E.T., Tag, and Eyes Wide Shut are excellent movies with spots on this list.
On the other hand, sometimes you can take a bad project and make it even worse. Like when Twilight decided to use a CGI baby, or Vacation had Christina Applegate chug a fake beer. I could pick any part of Cats and put it on this list, too. Speaking of felines, I’d be remiss if I didn’t save an entry for one of the most bizarre scenes in Catwoman.
To be honest, this video features tons of animated anatomy. No, it’s not as dirty as it sounds, even if I could’ve gone that direction. I’m talking mustaches, arms, legs, eyes, and maybe even Nic Cage’s six-pack. You’ll have to watch to see what that’s all about, okay?
