Walt Disney Animation Studios calls itself a maker of 'Stories that transcends generations' on its official website. A sprawling catalogue of covers from 'Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs' to 'Frozen II' meet the eye and stretch across the eclectic webpage. Pixar Animation Studios paints a slightly more demure picture with a splash of blue, white and its hallmark font designed by Carol Twombly. Both establishments are flagbearers of excellence in their own right.

A continuity mistake occurs when the visual, conceptual or temporal consistency of a narrative gets disrupted. While continuity mistakes can have different magnitudes of consequences for the narrative world in which they occur, they're usually more or less innocuous. Changed positions of objects, disappearances, shadows facing in the wrong direction and discrepancies in colours are just some examples of what can go wrong in some classic continuity mistakes. Animation films are no exception to this common occurrence and because they are shot over multiple weeks in several stages, an error or two is likely to slip through the editors' lens.

Disney and its subsidiary Pixar have been delighting audiences with eclectic animation projects for decades. Hallmark franchises like Toy Story, Cars, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo/Dory have just as many continuity discrepancies as projects like Coco, The Good Dinosaur, Lion King, Inside Out, WALL-E, Tangled, Frozen and Brave. This video outlines their nature while addressing the noteworthy elements of production that most of them entail. Despite these errors, this topic takes a look at the overall accomplishment these films boast of.
