These days, it’s pretty normal to find out that an actor has spent months in the gym with a personal trainer, getting super buff for a role. But what about all of the other, far weirder, way less useful special skills that some actors have had to pick up over the years? While they might not be as handy as learning the piano or how to throw a punch, these actors have devoted a ton of time to learn how to do all kinds of strange things in order to get into a character. Like Jennifer Lawrence, who not only learned how to shoot a bow and arrow to play Katniss in The Hunger Games, but also was taught how to skin a squirrel in Winter’s Bone! Dave Franco learned how to throw playing cards so fast that he could cut fruit --and Mark Ruffalo’s face!-- with them. Joseph Gordon Levitt learned how to walk on a tightrope, Robert Downy Jr was taught how to play the violin left handed, and Daniel Day Lewis learned to track and hunt his own breakfast, lunch, and dinner during The Last of The Mohicans! That’s not even close to all of them, either! There was Mickey Rourke, who learned how to be a professional wrestler, Margot Robbie who trained in gymnastics and learned how to hold her breath for five minutes, Tom Cruise who became a helicopter pilot, and so many more! Check out the video to find out all of the craziest skills that actors have had to learn for the movies.
