Pokemon Journeys is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite Pokemon anime and for good reason! Now that Ash has won the Alola league, he is now on the hunt for a new adventure with a new friend, Goh! The anime takes great pains to be more like the original series. So much so that it is filled with easter eggs and hints about the future of the series.

For starters, there are a ton of visual callbacks to the earliest days of the Pokemon anime. Whether that’s a familiar bedroom, similar character beats or Ash Ketchum literally never waking up on time, Journeys had made it clear that it is all about that original series nostalgia.

Not only that but it is full of references to the games and other movies. There are characters lifted right out of the newest Sword and Shield game, references to Pokemon Go and more! Unfortunately we don’t have a Ryan Reynold cameo just yet but we do have a reference to Detective Pikachu!

The show is also doing the classic Pokemon thing where it teases mysteries for the future. Will we see old threats return? What was that mysterious pokemon at the end of the season? Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the pokemon world, you won’t want to miss out on learning Journeys secrets.

So let’s jump right in! Here are all the hidden easter eggs you missed in plain sight during season one of Pokemon Journeys!
