Nothing tops the feeling of seeing an actor perfectly personify a role, especially if it is a culturally significant one. Actors have to juggle tight schedules and lead strict lives, but sometimes even that doesn't stop from iconic roles slipping from their grip. From parts gone due to promotional obligations to all-too-regular scheduling conflicts, this list outlines an ensemble of award winners and A-listers who almost played a famous role...until they didn't. Emily Blunt famously missed out on a titular MCU. The Emmas were linked to each other roles in chart-topping films at least twice. Daniel Day-Lewis said no to yet another film. Tom Hanks lost out on a titular role, only to play another titular role. Dougray Scott perhaps wouldn't have played the bad guy so many times if this one role had worked out for him. And most importantly, Mia Wallace could have been *not* Uma Thurman, if not for a famous TV Show.

1. Emily Blunt
2. Dougray Scott
3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
4. Daniel Day-Lewis
5. Jim Carrey
6. Emma Stone
7. Brad Pitt
8. Julia Louis-Dreyfus
9. Tom Hanks
10. Elisabeth Olsen
