Avatar The Last Airbender is a show universally loved and praised by multiple generations and for good reason. It's a really fantastic show. From the character arcs, to the complex storylines, to the amazing battles, Avatar the Last Airbender really has it all.
The world of Avatar feels very big and expansive and it is because the creators of the show put a lot of time into crafting a very in depth world. Each nation has its own customs and ways of life based on the environment they live in. This works to make the world feel even more realistic and believable.
A huge element of the show (see what I did there?) are the 4 bending art forms. Water, Earth, Fire and Air. Those are the main elemental forms but there are also subtypes or specialized bending techniques that lie within every form of bending such as Blood Bending or Metal Bending. The creators spent a lot of time crafting the specificity of the elements as well as the technique that drives these elements. For instance Waterbending is derived from Tai Chi while Earth Bending is derived from Hung Ga Kung Fu. All of these decisions were made to give more specificity to bending and that hard work has really paid off.
Today we will go through the 4 elements of Avatar The Last Airbender as well as all of the subtype of bending.
