The universe of Avatar The Last Airbender has grown beyond it’s initial animated series. Between the follow up The Legend Of Korra and the sequel comics to both series, the family trees of Team Avatar have gone far beyond what the animation presented. So we’re taking a look at just how interconnected this family is! For instance, did you know that Prince Zuko and Princess Azula have a half-sister on their mother’s side? The very same mother whose disappearance was alluded to at the end of the show. We also take a look at Aang and Katara’s family, Sokka’s lack thereof, and Toph’s estranged family.
While the Legend of Korra addresses the outcomes of many of our favorite pairings, we may be waiting for another comic or, fingers crossed, another animated series to tell us if Sokka and Suki stayed together, or who the mother of Zuko’s daughter ended up being. Speaking of Zuko, his family tree could have looked a lot different if Ursa hadn’t taken the actions she had to keep her son safe. In the end, her disappearance was ultimately for his benefit. The sequel comics really do add so much to this series, and perhaps the upcoming Netflix adaptation might add some new layers to this universe! Or hopefully can at least gain enough popularity to revive the show for a season!
So let’s break down all of the family trees, both biological and spiritual, for our main cast in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe
