For those of you who haven’t watched the latest episode (Episode 5 of Season 2) of The Mandalorian, SPOILER WARNING ahead so go watch the episode, then come back!
Anyways, WOW what an episode! We finally get the long awaited first time appearance of Ahsoka Tano in live action, and we learned a lot about Baby Yoda… Like that his name is actually GROGU! Such a cute name for this 50 year old man.
Grogu is revealed to have been trained at the Jedi temple on Coruscant, meaning he was there over the course of the prequels! This explains why he’s been able to demonstrate such impressive force abilities during the series. We also learn that he was taken from the temple at the time of the purge, and has since been suppressing his abilities as a way to stay concealed from the Empire.
Ahsoka says she won’t train him due to his strong emotional connection to Mando, but tells him to go to Tython to possibly reach out to other Jedi! In Legends, Tython was said to be the first Jedi temple, where the earliest research and studies on the force took place.
While there aren’t many Jedi left at the time of The Mandalorian, perhaps the most obvious would be none other than LUKE SKYWALKER! Is it possible that they’ll reach out to Luke? I mean, this is around the time that Luke would begin to rebuild the Jedi order after Return of the Jedi!
There’s still a few more episodes in the season, but what do you guys think? Do you like the name Grogu? Could we learn more about his time with the Jedi order during the prequels? Will he FINALLY get some proper Jedi training? And by none other than Luke himself? Let us know in the comments!
