Behind The Scenes Of 10 Iconic Underwater Movie Scenes
Description
Everyone loves a good sequence that looks as though the characters are submerged in the ocean. Aquaman, The Meg, Suicide Squad, Titanic, Alien Resurrection, Avatar 2, Top Secret!, Thunderball, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire all feature some of the greatest of these types of moments ever put on the big screen.
These moments are incredibly ambitious. Directors like David Ayer and James Cameron love going above and beyond to create the most accurate submerged sequences ever seen. Sometimes it’s possible that things go a little too far. Kate Winslet may have broken Tom Cruise’s record for a submerged filming sequence but her previous performance for James Cameron was so miserable that she vowed to never work for him again. Apparently that was a lie. Tom Cruise went above and beyond for Rogue Nation but the editing of the sequence made it unclear whether Tom Cruise was truly doing the stunt himself. All that hard work for nothing.
Then there are the actors who nearly lost everything for the film they were doing. Actors like Ron Perlman and Ruby Rose nearly drowned while filming their sequences, something that doesn’t really seem worth it for their performances in sub par projects. Other projects went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe. Daniel Radcliffe was well taken care of for his turn and considered the work in the giant tank of water to be a great deal of fun.
