Comic Book Actors That Went Method For Their Role

Method acting, a range of training and rehearsal technique that seeks to encourage sincere and expressive performances through identifying with, understanding, and experiencing a character's inner motivation and emotions, has been around for a long, long time and there are a number of major actors who are known to use the practice. Method acting techniques have been used in a number of movie genres, even in some you wouldn’t expect, such as comic book movies. But there are several examples of eactors going above and beyond to get into the headspace of the notorious character they are playing and doing whatever they can to make their performance as believable as possible and transcend acting completely.

In this video we will go through a number of both Marvel and DC comic book actors and the method practices they used to play their character. From actors losing over fifty pounds to make themselves go crazy, taping rocks to the inside of the shoes to make themselves irritable, sending teddy bears with the eyes cut out to members of the crew, going undercover in places associated with the character the actor was playing, keeping the character’s accent even when the camera’s had stopped rolling, isolating in a hotel for over a month with nothing but a diary and some knives, to making everyone on set call the actor by their character’s name. These are some of the best examples of method acting in the movie industry!
