Deleted Scenes That Would Have Changed Movie Franchises Forever
Description
Part of what makes movies so much fun is that they bring us joy by telling us stories without our having to work too hard to understand them. Still, the best movies leave us with more questions than answers. Unfortunately, sometimes that’s the case because in the mad rush to assemble the perfect entertainment opportunity certain essential details get lost to the cutting room floor. These details aren’t always trivial, either: How does Han Solo’s ultimate fate affect Luke? Why is saying ‘Voldemort” inherently dangerous? Could-- and I don’t say this lightly-- could Natasha still be out there just waiting to whistle back to her sister?
These are the kinds of questions-- whether asked about Blade Runner, The Thing, Jeff Goldblum, or Will Smith-- that keep audiences guessing decades after a film has seen its defining theatrical release come and go. But that’s the fun of fandom, right? Wondering whether or not the world would be changed in the event that Christopher Lee’s Saruman was actually shown hurtling to his death from the top of Isengard? Of course it is, and that’s why we’ve spent time compiling some of the most powerful and franchise-changing deleted scenes from many of our favorite films over the years.
Join us while we attempt to sift through the cinematic errors-by-omission supplied by the last forty-some-odd years of entertainment. Oh, and Meryl Streep makes an appearance at one point so keep your eyes peeled for that.
