Doctor Strange 2: 25 Things You Missed

Multiverse of Madness is chock full of tasty Easter eggs and nifty plot developments you may have missed, so now it’s time to take a gander at those morsels of fun. For this list, I had to start with the moment where I went “holy butts, this movie is amazing”. No, it wasn’t the complete decimation of the Illuminati — something that was, admittedly, weirdly therapeutic to watch — it was the sheer Raimi-ness of the whole film, specifically the moment when I realized exactly what Doctor Strange was going to do with his deceased alternate universe self. That’s right — Deadite Doctor Strange, baby! The character people assumed would be the true villain of the film was actually our lead in a decaying skin suit. A-MAZING. For those not in the horror movie know, director Sam Raimi also directed the Evil Dead trilogy — a series predicated on a demonic book of the dead, in that case the flesh-bound Necronomicon, which when used brings about demonic possession of those who dared tamper with it. Sound familiar? Yeah, if this was a comic book it’d be called Doctor Strange vs the Evil Dead — which by the way, where’s my tie-in comic, Marvel?

If you didn’t stay for the mid-credits scene, well… shame. But also: you missed a pretty huge cameo! Furiosa herself Charlize Theron showed up as Clea, the Sorcerer Supreme of the Dark Dimension and, in the comics, eventually the wife of Doctor Strange. Looks like the two of them are going to have to team up to figure out all this multiversal madness started by… Sylvie, the female version of Loki, in the series Loki. Hm. Admittedly Clea isn’t an alternate version of Strange himself, but still… pretty interesting correlation there.
