Freddie vs Jason? Tired. Iron Man vs Captain America? Been done. Kramer vs Kramer? Just not really the same thing at all. Man vs food? Also very different, and we seem to be drifting way off topic - let’s please get back on track. This year, it’s all about one throwdown.
Godzilla vs Kong.
Ever since Godzilla returned to US screens in Gareth Edwards’ flawed but spectacular 2014 movie, the thought of him facing off against other famous giant beasts has been a tantalizing one for fans, with King Kong high on everybody’s list. And following Kong’s appearance in Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Vietnam-era monster throwback Kong: Skull Island, that showdown has been a matter of when, rather than if. And now it’s here, directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, Death Note).
But of course, as with all movie discourse these days, fans are not just speculating about what we’ve been told we’ll see - we’re wondering what other treats, easter eggs and revelations might be coming our way. Adding fuel to this fire are some recent set reports that suggest tantalizing threads from the end of 2019’s beast romp Godzilla: King of the Monsters are going to be picked up on and developed. Specifically, threads related to everyone’s favorite triple-headed dragon behemoth King Ghidorah, and the potential for cybernetic evolution.
So join us as we piece together all the latest rumors, clues and evidence, and theorize as to where it might all be going.
This is how Ghidorah could introduce a new Mecha-Titan.
