It’s nearly here! Coming imminently to a cinema near you - or maybe to a big home TV screen with HBO Max near you, as this coronavirus thing seems to be kinda dragging on - it’s the smackdown of the century! Or at least the decade.
Yes, Godzilla vs Kong is almost upon us. Directed by Adam Wingard, from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, it’s the sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla (2014), and one of the most long-awaited rematches / reboots / reimaginings in cinematic history - after all, the big lizard and the big monkey first faced each other back in 1962, in Toho’s King Kong vs. Godzilla. Even if you haven’t seen that, you’ve probably seen the gif of Kong trying to shove a tree into Godzilla’s face.
We’ve heard plenty of rumors about other Titans featuring in the new movie, with mooted appearances from a rejuvenated King Ghidorah and even a cameo from Mecha-Godzilla teased via set visits and toys.
But could it be that there are even more monsters in store for us when this behemoth drops?
This video discusses new developments gleaned from set visits, filmmakers’ comments and of course the trusty rumor mill. What is Monarch’s crazy plan for taking care of the Titans that have turned the natural order of things upside down?
And could it inadvertently result in a tidal wave of new beasts raining down destruction on human civilization?
