Harry Potter remains one of the most beloved franchises of all time. It told the story of Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, as he faced off against the greatest Dark Wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort. Obviously though, when adapting a massive book series like the Harry Potter novels, some stuff is going to be cut out when it comes time to make the movies! While Harry’s story remained the focal point throughout all 8 movies, it was clear the film franchise was ignoring fleshing out it’s big villain.

Voldemort’s characterization in the movies is a little bland. Yes he’s evil, he’s powerful and he has no nose but that’s about it. The books paint a better picture of how an ambitious, power hungry boy named Tom Riddle grew so corrupted in his quest for eternal life that his soul was gone forever! There’s so much backstory and facts the film franchise questionably ignores when it comes to Voldemort. Like did you know Voldemort cursed the Defense Against the Dark Arts Position and that’s why no one could hold the position for more than a year?
