How Buzz Lightyear Became The Face Of Pixar

Movie characters often go through a slew of changes before they hit the big screen, and this goes double for animated characters. Often, they start off as a basic version of what we ultimately get, and are simply tweaked or refined as production goes along. But do you know who went through a far more drastic change from inception to release? Everyone’s favorite space man toy!

This Space Ranger started off simply as Lunar Larry, a far more innocent and naive character who looks far more like something that’d fit in with early 1920’s sci-fi serials. As time went on however, he became much more of a stoic, headstrong character. Until he eventually became the Paragon of Star Command.

So join us as we take a look back at this early version of an iconic member of Pixar’s pantheon of characters. From his days facing off against a rather demonic looking ventriloquist dummy, all the way to the awesome action figure with a crummy lightbulb for a laser, that we all know and love.
