Disney and Marvel continue their ongoing takeover of every aspect of our entertainment lives with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the newest Marvel Cinematic Universe story to begin streaming on Disney+. We are only a few episodes in but the show has already asserted itself strongly, taking a look at a post-Avengers Endgame Earth from an angle that we’re not used to seeing.
Captain America’s best buddies Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (aka The Winter Soldier), played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, are back, bickering their way through inventive action scenes and government mandated therapy sessions in their quest to protect Cap’s legacy. Oh, and to stop the surprisingly youthful Flag Smashers from taking things back to how they were during the Blip, after Thanos finger-snapped away half the known universe. Who would want to go back to that? Guess we’ll see...
But it’s not just characters we’ve seen before. Like WandaVision before it, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is introducing some new faces, and those well-versed in the lore of Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and the rest of those legendary Marvel creatives will have an inkling that these new faces mean something.
In this video, we’ll be asking how developments in the second episode of the new Disney+ show - and in other recent Marvel properties- could give us a clue as to the future of the MCU...specifically a certain youthful super team going by the name Young Avengers...
