How Motion Capture Video Games Come To Life
Description
As technology progresses, video games are not only becoming more realistic, but much more cinematic and the line that separates a video game and a blockbuster movie is starting to become even more blurred as time goes on. This is not just down to the fact that video games have cutting edge technology, but also some of Hollywood’s biggest stars performing for them, all capture photo-realistically in game. To make a movie more cinematic and realistic and to incorporate a star into the framework authentically, video games have relied heavily on one major form of technology - motion capture. While motion capture is used in many different social sectors, it’s the entertainment industry that it’s best known for, with it being used in the likes of Lord of the Rings and the latest Planet of the Apes trilogy. Of course it is also heavily used in video games, and has become increasingly more prevalent as time has gone on.
In this video we are going to take a look behind the scenes of motion capture - how it was invented and it’s earliest usage, how it’s done and how the video games capture performances and movements so authentically, what this means for video games and how the technology is improving even more and how the future of the games industry will look. This is how motion capture technology video games come to life.
