The Ren and Stimpy show, besides being a total cult classic, was a landmark animated television series. It popularised the notion of whimsical cartoon characters who don't adhere to any semblance of moral correctness. Not only was this revolutionary, but the Ren and Stimpy show was elevated to new heights due to its unique ability of earnestly exploring what a child's imagination can be like. The unstable chihuahua and his trustworthy cat companion didn't take long to become absurdist comedy staples long before shows like South Park made their debut. This reputation went for an unfortunate and seemingly irrevocable toss when Ren and Stimpy Adult Party came out in all its unabashed, poop-centered glory. Along came disgusting concoctions of vomit, phlegm and goobers and toilet humour that noone could have asked for. The show did mirror the original's smooth animations and a very palatable version of Mr. Horse, but other than that, had too many negatives in its infamous repertoire to last beyond three episodes on American Television.

Ahead of the show's Comedy Central reboot, we've decided to take a look at why Ren and Stimpy Adult Party was unlikable enough to get cancelled so quickly. That means taking stock of all the fallacies in the Adult Party that kept Nickelodeon from even brushing the topic of the show's recreation for years until August 2020. So brace yourself, for you're about to venture into adult animation territory that is famously infamous for its exaggerated humour.
