James Gunn just showed us once again that he is a master of the comic book movie. The latest Task Force X film centered around Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller recruiting supervillains like Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, John Cena’s Peacemaker, Sylvester Stalone’s King Shark, and Pete Davidson’s Blackguard against Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi’s The Thinker and his experiments with the classic Justice League villain Starro the conqueror.
This new film has injected a ton of energy into this comic book universe. That means that it will likely influence the next slate of television and film projects for the next decade to come. What will follow The Batman, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam, Green Lantern, GCPD and more? The MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy director has already made a lasting impact on one comic movie universe so who knows what will be next.
It’s likely that his work will affect The Justice League, James Wan’s Aquaman franchise, a potential sequel to Birds of Prey and more. Now that he’s pushing forward with television work, they will likely be able to compete with Disney+’s Marvel shows like WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, What If and Hawkeye. It will likely push the franchise past the Arrowverse shows like Arrow, Superman & Lois, Naomi, Batwoman, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
So where exactly will Gunn lead this mega film franchise? Let’s explore that together. Don’t forget to like, subscribe and share for more from Screen Rant!
