With Tony Stark out of the picture, who will pick up where Iron Man left off in the MCU? Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

With Tony Stark’s heroic exit from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Marvel fans across the globe have wondered: who will take up the Iron Man mantle? There are plenty of possibilities. There’s Spider-Man and even Tony’s best bud War Machine. But rumors suggest another character that seems a likely bet. That character is Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart. These rumors reached a new peak level with Robert Downey, Jr. offered his personal endorsement for Riri as the next Iron Man.

In a lot of ways, this seems like the natural progression for the character. In the comics, Riri took up the mantle after receiving Tony Stark’s endorsement. When he went into a coma after the events of Civil War II, she stepped up, ensuring that his legacy would live on.

But since we haven’t seen much about Riri Williams in the MCU, how exactly would she be introduced? There are a few possibilities. They could have a solo Ironheart movie that retroactively introduces Riri. It would be similar to Captain Marvel, taking place in the past and showing how Riri and Tony met. There’s also the fact that Riri uses a Tony Stark A.I. to help guide her through the world of superhero-ing. This would be a great way to keep Robert Downey Jr. around. Tony Stark could be an A.I. that helps train her in this solo movie. His hologram has already been introduced in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Who’s to say it won’t come back in a bigger way in future MCU entries?

We’ll dive into all the possibilities regarding Riri’s involvement and what it could mean for the MCU.
