Loki: Kang The Conqueror Origins Explained
Description
The Loki season finale was surprising in a lot of different ways. Going into it, people were either expecting to see a King Loki villain with a Kang tease, or for Kang to be the ultimate Big Bad. Well, although those who guessed that Kang the Conqueror would make his MCU debut and be the final boss for the Trickster God and Sylvie to fight were partially right, there’s still a lot more to the story. Turns out, the being we met at the end of time was He Who Remains, played by Jonathan Majors. He Who Remains isn’t quite Kang the Conqueror, but rather a variant of the character who has spent a million lifetimes preserving the sacred timeline out of fear of his other, more evil variants. If He Who Remains wasn’t around, then the timeline would branch out, creating an infinite number of universes and open the door for evil Kang variants to venture out and start another Multiversal War! Talk about heavy!
But how did He Who Remains get to where he was and what was his ultimate goal? Well, that’s what we’re here today to discuss! We’ll go in depth on this new Loki’s villain comic origins and see how the character was adapted in the MCU. In a move that shouldn’t surprise a lot of people, the MCU actually seemingly combined two different Marvel characters into He Who Remains to make it easier to streamline. Which other character is He Who Remains most like? Well watch to find out!
