Well, according to Wikipedia, Loki is a god in Norse mythology. In some sources he is the son of Fárbauti and Laufey, and the brother of Helblindi and Býleistr. By the jötunn Angrboða, Loki is the father of Hel, the wolf Fenrir, and the world serpent Jörmungandr. Loki, in the form of a mare, was impregnated by the stallion Svaðilfari and gave birth to the eight-legged horse Sleipnir… Hold on, wrong Loki.

Loki is a character from the Marvel comics, created by Stan Lee, though of course based upon the character of the same name from Norse Mythology. He actually pre-dates the Marvel version of Thor, first appearing in 1962 in Journey Into Mystery.

But of course, we’re specifically talking about the live-action adaptation of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, played by Tom Hiddleston! He is the brother of Thor, one of the two princes of Asgard, a magical villain and trickster and devilish cad about the Nine Realms. He is one of the MCU’s most popular and beloved villains, pure Tumblr bait, and has had an extremely interesting, twisted history throughout the three Phases that we have seen thus far.

He’s also about to appear in his very own limited streaming show on Disney+, alongside none other than Owen Wilson!
