Today on the show, we’re going to take a look at movie franchises that had their stories retconned. Franchises don’t always go perfectly planned. Sometimes you have a really good start, but along the way the sequels really ruin any sort of improvement for the franchise. What do we do in this scenario? Ignore certain movies! From big budget to low budget, film franchises get retconned all the time. Sometimes it’s as little as a line of dialogue that is added to ensure the heroes don’t defeat their enemies the same way, or as massive as ignoring almost the entirety of the franchise itself. Today, we’re going to look at some film franchises that tried to save a failing franchise with a clever retcon, some franchises that actually pulled off a retcon and won back some older fans, and some films franchises we think could be solved with a retcon.
