Rick & Morty: 5 Times Jerry Saved The Day (And 5 Times He Ruined Everything)
Description
How Do You Solve A Problem Like Jerry Smith?
In Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s crazy, disturbing and hilarious world of ‘Rick and Morty’, there are Ricks and there are Mortys. And there are Beths. There are also Summers, and Bird Persons, and Mr Poopybutthole, and aliens and robots and mutants and devils and all kinds of weird and terrifying individuals.
And, of course, there are Jerrys.
Today we’re going to be talking about Jerry, technically the patriarch of the Smith clan - though that ‘technically’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Voiced by Chris Parnell, who judging by his work on ‘Archer’ seems to have a real penchant for playing cowardly, ultimately useless nebbishes, Jerry Smith… well what can you say about him? A coward, a blowhard, a parasite, a toxic combination of ego and inferiority complex? Definitely not the kind of person you’d want at your side during a dangerous intergalactic adventure?
But at the same time, an oddly sweet, possibly misunderstood guy. A guy who does, every now and then, come through for his family. Sure, sometimes that’s by accident. But we don’t have to hold that against him, do we? Well. At least not all the time.
In this video, we’re going to be taking a deep dive into Jerry, looking at five instances in which he - sometimes ambiguously - triumphed and saved the day, and five times that he royally screwed things up.
Get ready for some deep interstellar cringe. It’s Jerry o’clock.
