Between all the Rick & Morty merchandise and behind-the-scenes content, it feels safe to say that this show’s hype can’t get much higher. Well, you’re wrong. I know it makes me sound like Rick when I say that, but trust me, season five of Rick & Morty will deliver a whole different level of excellence.
Mr. Poopybutthole spent two years waiting for season three, and many fans found the hype to be a bit over-earned near the end of the season. Rick & Morty was getting complicated. Anyone with an HBO Max subscription can go back and see that for themselves. Thankfully season four of the series grounded the stories and got back to the magic of season one and two. There wasn’t any pressure to keep things in some continuous narrative that overcomplicated the comedy.
Now, season five is on the horizon. Justin Roiland finished his work on Solar Opposites with Hulu and is all in for Adult Swim/Cartoon Network. This network gives the Rick & Morty team a long leash, but the 70-episode contract between the studio and the team shows the faith is real. Even Dan Harmon said the show is more than on-schedule at this point.
The story circle started with Community, but it is thriving with Rick & Morty. Season five is going to be the proof.
All reports and previews of season five give fans the sense we’re in for a full return to form for the show. The video is going to make you I believer, just watch and see.
