The Star Wars universe, from its origins as a weird George Lucas passion project that nobody wanted to finance, through the bizarre and now legendary Expanded Universe years, all the way to the modern beloved (and controversial) Disney era, has given us more iconic characters, spaceships, aliens, musical themes and weapons than most franchises could dream of. But when it comes to those weapons, there is surely a definitive number one in any self-respecting fan’s list - the lightsaber.
The Jedi’s legendary laser sword is undoubtedly one of the first things that people think of when they think of Star Wars, an endlessly cool, impossibly fictional weapon, beloved by kids playing in their backyards with sticks and adult kids playing at Comic Con with expensive replicas. But if we’re talking pure power, is the lightsaber still the king?
Arguably not. In this video, we explore ten other weapons from across different eras of Star Wars, all of which could pose a challenge to a lightsaber wielder. From films, books, TV shows and games, to comics and obscure Wookipedia entries, no stone has been left unturned in this epic quest to discover which of these fictional armaments could win in a fight.
You know. Like the adults we are.
Do you agree? Do you hate the list? Any nitpicks? Anything missing? Sound off in the comments.
