Super Mario Bros Movie: 18 Things You Missed

Two years since the infamous cast announcement of Chris Pratt, and the Mario movie is finally in theaters! What some may have thought to just be a lazy cash-in has ended up being a loving homage to everything that’s made our favorite portly plumber so memorable. Along with nailing the look and feel of his world, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has something for every type of Mario fan. If you started with the character’s roots back on the NES, pay attention to every rooftop in Brooklyn, because there’s more references than you might have expected. From Punch-Out to R.O.B. The Robot, nearly every NES classic makes an appearance in some small way. If you’re a child of the Gamecube like the writer of this video, you’ll love Luigi even more than you already did (if that’s even possible)! But Easter Eggs for the individual games should be expected at this point, but how about deep cuts to earlier animated outings? Those who remember the Super Mario Bros. Super Show might recognize a certain princess’ voice in one of the opening scenes! Mario isn’t even the best part of the movie, Donkey Kong and the other Kongs absolutely steal the show!
