Monsters barely scratch the surface when describing what Sam and Dean Winchester fought in 15 seasons of the show. There were demons, angels, witches, and plagues dominating the main conflicts of the show. Through time-travel, mystic weapons, and cunning plans, the two best hunters in the world have staved off earth-shattering events as their day job.
All that being said, this list isn’t about the two Winchester boys. We want to focus on the most prominent villains on the show, which, now that I think about it, also includes different iterations of the Winchesters. Okay, the point still stands. This is more about the evil antagonist than team free will.
As the final episode wraps and Metallicar drives into the sunset, I can’t help but consider all the incredible big bads the show created. There’s Crowley, Abaddon, Lilith, Rowena, and Azazel that make up that tier of quality power-hungry demons (or witch in Rowena’s case). Then there are the times our favorite heroes are pushed to the brink like Sam’s soulless adventures, Dean becoming a Demon, or Castiel opening purgatory to fight Raphael. The last of those brought us Dick Roman and introduced the more complicated mythology of the show involving Lucifer, God, and The Darkness.
Sure, Dean and Sam make it all possible, but the different titular villains are what made the show feel fresh for 15 years.
So let me take you on a journey to remember all the significant villains; this show amplified and created a new life during it’s run! It’s going to be a fun walk down memory lane!
