The BEST Open World Video Games Of All Time
Description
The open world is the final destination of video game design. Since the beginning, we’ve longed to explore places we could only find in our imagination, and the past decade and a half of gaming has gladly provided. With the sequel to Breath of the Wild about to drop, we thought it would be the perfect time to list off the best open-world games of all time! You won’t be seeing Skyrim or Fallout on here, but you won’t be surprised to see the likes of Elden Ring and Breath of the Wild on here. What’s with the trend of post-apocalyptic settings working so well in open-world games? If you’re hoping for a more developed world on this list, don’t worry. We’ve got both Insomniac spider-Man games on here. Those games present a New York that looks better than the real one! And on the subject of superhero games, we didn’t forget about the Batman: Arkham series. Although the entry we put on this list might surprise you. As fun as the Batmobile is in Arkham Knight, we found that the second entry, Arkham City was the definitive Batman experience. It just goes to show how important tight design and a good story is! This list has several Game of The Year nominees on it from throughout the past generation of consoles, so you can expect Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima alongside Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3. But we didn’t forget about the indie games either, but you’ll have to watch to find out which ones!
