The Boys: Lamplighter Will Return... But Not As You Expect

The Boys season 2 may be over, but that hasn’t stopped us from speculating on what we might see in season 3! Season 2 introduced us to a lot of new mysteries, plot developments and interesting characters, and one of the standout characters we saw was Lamplighter, the former Seven member who was responsible for burning Mallory’s grandchildren alive.

But the show swerved in a compelling direction regarding Lamplighter’s character. He wasn’t some homicidal maniac who enjoyed what he did to Mallory’s grandchildren, he was actually really remorseful about it and it sent him spiraling into a deep depression. That regret he showed doesn’t let him off the hook for what he did in any way, but it did make him a fascinating character who we hoped would stick around for a while. Well, our hopes and dreams to see him play a larger role in the series went up in flames when Lamplighter decided to end his own life by lighting himself on fire in the Vought tower.

But now the big question is, is that the end of his story? Everyone probably knows now that Lamplighter’s comic fate was a lot different. In the comics, Lamplighter was revived thanks to Compound V after dying and as a result, was turned into a mindless, soulless husk of a monster who probably needed to be put out of his misery. Now with rumors that the show would give Lamplighter’s resurrection arc to Stormfront instead makes a lot of sense, we do think there’s still a great opportunity to bring Lamplighter back onto the show.
