The "Underworld" movies introduced moviegoers to a whole… well, underworld of vampires, lycans, and the war between them. For five movies, the series has been anchored by Kate Beckinsale and her Death Dealer character Selene — but all that might be changing if they end up making an "Underworld 6."

In 2017, series co-creator Len Wiseman said that a sixth film in the series was in the works with Beckinsale expected to return, but a Variety interview with the actress seemed to flatly refute that. So what happened? This is the real reason Kate Beckinsale won't return for "Underworld 6."
