The Real Reason Snake Eyes Bombed At The Box Office

The "G.I. Joe" live-action movies don't exactly have a history of setting the world on fire when it comes to critics, audiences, or the box office. But that didn't deter the filmmakers behind the franchise from trying again in 2021 with "Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins."

Starring Henry Golding, the movie set itself apart from previous entries in the series by focusing on one character: the silent, masked ninja Snake Eyes, in the time before he lost his voice or put on the mask.

Unfortunately, audiences weren't curious about seeing the origin story of this "G.I. Joe" character, with the movie earning less than $20 million in its opening weekend. This is the real reason "Snake Eyes" bombed at the box office.
