"Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," the third installment in the "Harry Potter"-adjacent "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, isn't a cure-all for the series' shortcomings, but it's arguably a few steps up from the first two films. After a solid first outing, the second film in the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise — 2018's "The Crimes of Grindelwald," with Johnny Depp — was a letdown, and "Secrets" has some similar issues.
