Are we ever going to get sick of analyzing Avengers: Endgame? That’s a trick question because no, of course we aren’t. In 2,000 years historians will be picking apart the MCU the same way we study the Pyramids of Ancient Egypt, I’m pretty sure. So with that being said, we need to look at perhaps the biggest mystery in Endgame, Doctor Strange.

Strange is a confusing character in the MCU. He started off as a brilliant surgeon and then became a novice sorcerer after his car accident. From there, he inherited the time stone and did battle with Dormammu for what could’ve been thousands of years. Since his fateful encounter with the evil being, Strange has been kind of hard to read. The mysterious hero prefers to keep his true intentions close to his chest, giving off the impression that he is playing chess on a cosmic scale with fate itself.

Perhaps the best source for these kinds of clues is none other than Benedict Cumberbatch himself. The famously cerebral actor is well known for using detailed character backgrounds that he works with directors to perfect. This same process was used for Doctor Strange, resulting in improvised moments that changed the MCU forever. It’s these moments that I think give a lot away about Strange’s true plans. That perhaps Thanos wasn’t the only threat in Endgame he was saving us from.

So let’s journey into mystery together as we deduce Doctor Strange’s true intentions in Endgame!
