In this year's epic Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos collected all six Infinity Stones and used them to wipe out half of all life in the universe. He obtained the Soul Stone from the distant and barren planet of Vormir, having learned about its whereabouts from Gamora.
On Vormir, he was guided to the stone by a character who was long thought to be dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the Nazi supervillain known as the Red Skull (played by Ross Marquand, who replaced Hugo Weaving in the role), who was last seen in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.
The former leader of HYDRA gave the Mad Titan all the information he required in order to acquire the Soul Stone - without any explanation regarding how he knew so much about it.
In this video, we'll explain exactly where he learned all about it.
The revelation comes from a recent book that was published called "Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary", which explained that the Red Skull's HYDRA henchman stole a version of the Book of Yggdrasil - a sacred text containing information about the secrets of the universe - from the church in Norway where he acquired the Tesseract from in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.
