The good news is that Trolls World Tour made way more money in its initial release than the first film of the franchise did in months? The bad news? Thanks to some statements made by Universal Pictures CEO Jeff Shells, AMC Theaters and Regal Entertainment are going to be boycotting their films in their movie theaters! Since this studio has switched to offering streaming services in tandem with big budget releases, many people aren’t happy about it. Audiences may miss out on some of their favorite film franchises like The Fast and the Furious, but is this just the next step in the evolution of this industry? After all, if customers favor digital releases over going out and spending a bunch of money on popcorn then it’s possible these theaters may need to prepare for a serious loss of income. Their business model could need to undergo some serious changes to keep up with the movie industry. We’ll talk about why some people think Universal made a huge mistake, and why others think it was a smart decision.

What do you think about the way these cinema sales may suffer in the wake of this business decision? Do you think it’s unfair or is it just the next step in the evolution of this profession?
