Turning Red is packed full of so many Easter Eggs and small crazy details that despite us doing a number of videos on the movie already, we are still finding more of them, and to be honest, I don’t think we will be done after this video either! Domee Shi’s delightful coming of age story has so many subtle nods, references and Easter Eggs that it is a certified treasure trove and one that we will be mulling over for years to come. So here we go again, taking a look at 20 or so things that only fans noticed in Pixar’s latest gem.
From the hidden meanings in the friendship bracelets, hidden jokes at some of the most popular franchises expense, references to classic Disney movies (such as Mulan), more nods to the city of Toronto and Canadiana, a reference to one of the biggest sporting games of all time, how the movie went the extra step for added realism, the hilarious (and brilliant) working title, nods to Will Smith and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, subtle details in the background, a nod to another massive animated movie (Despicable Me, why the number 4 is so important as well as the color themes, secret cameos, and some quotes of the most inspirational people of all time.
