The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to hit Disney Plus August 2020. In it, Sam Wilson reunites with his fellow Avenger, Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier to navigate a world without Steve Rogers or Tony Stark. In it, Sam Wilson has been given the responsibility of becoming the new Captain America, but is that something the US Government really wants? Based on the leaked set photos and the Super Bowl Teaser, there may, in fact, be two Captains running around right now.

Wyatt Russell is cast as John F. Walker, better known as US Agent. His costume is very reminiscent of Steve Rogers’ early outfits. What’s more, is that he has the shield that Sam was given by Rogers himself. Did the government opt to remove Wilson from being the face of Captain America?

What’s more, is what’s Walker’s agenda? We know that in the comics, he’s a superpowered individual, having bought his supersoldier serum illicitly. So he’s physically superior to Sam Wilson, who has no powers whatsoever. But powers are only half the battle. Public opinion is quite another. In the comics, US Agent is the polar opposite of Captain America and doesn’t abide by the same moral code as Rogers did. What if he starts undoing all the goodwill Cap earned over the years, distorts the image of the hero? Even scary is that may be part of Zemo’s grand plan. The Civil War villain is returning for the show and he’s likely not forgiven the Avengers for what happened a few years ago.
