Aang was 166 years old when he died, but Kyoshi turned out to be 230 years old?? Let’s find out how!

Nickelodeon’s Avatar universe has a vast, expanding lore that’s amazing to just dive into every once and awhile. One question that often comes up is, with all that cosmic Avatar energy flowing through you, do you end up living a long time?
While the Avatar does come with some pretty awesome abilities, like firebending, earthbending, waterbending, airbending and even more power with the Avatar State, a long life is not one of them.

Avatar Kuruk died at 33, Roku died at 70, not even Avatar Wan in the Legend of Korra lived that long! Aang only lived 166 years old because he was frozen in an iceberg, which resulted in him dying a lot younger than his friends like Katara, Zuko, Toph, etc.

There are some characters who live to a very old age, such as Guru Pathik who was 150 years old in the Last Airbender! And the great Lion Turtles are apparently centuries old! So could it be linked to strong spiritual connections and attitudes?
Or could the secret be Kyoshi’s spiritual mentor Lao Ge, also known as Tieguai the Immortal in “The Rise of Kyoshi” novel!

Why is it Avatar Kyoshi was able to live so long? Well, we dive into some interesting easter eggs that could link to why!
