Watching these movies is almost like a right of passage for movie fans, but why do these obviously terrible movies stick with us so much? The reason that we tend to love bad movies so much really comes down to one simple thing: the experience we have watching them, and the communities that love them. A bad movie watched by yourself is just that, a bad movie. However, when you view it with friends, the schlock winds up taking center stage, and the shared experience you have with your friends gives these movies a lot of staying power.
